Using Reusable Period Pads

Reusable period pads, ladies what can I say? It’s time for you to take control. Our world needs our help. For the last almost three years, I’ve eliminated disposable sanitary pads from my life. This was a huge deal for me because quite frankly, I’m a heavy bleeder and I was a night time disposable sanitary pad every couple of hours kinda girl.  Knowing that I was due on my period, took the plunge on holiday deciding to take only my untried disposable period pants and pads.  (I'd bought and had then for almost a year and had been too scared to take the plunge.  I'll tell you now, I never felt as liberated as I felt using the reusable period pads and pants. In that week alone, I felt more aware of my periods and knowing that I was making a difference was extremely satisfying.

I'll admit, I was so scared that I'd bleed all over the place, but I didn't.  The pads and pants were and are absolutely unbelievable.

What I’m trying to say is that you should totally take the plunge. I know it’s scary, I know you’re used to what you’ve been using all your life and you’re thinking why change what’s working. BUT!!!! This is different. Every disposable sanitary item whether pads or tampons that you use, will take hundreds of years to break down. It’s likely that every single one will be here for longer than you're alive.

That’s not good at all. We have the power as women to make a huge difference and this is one change that can be instant. Changing to reusable pads, reusable period pants or a moon cup can make a massive difference right away.

Think about it, how amazing would it be to know that you’re making a huge difference to all the plastic waste that we are adding to every day. I know we can’t change everything and that we can’t get away from plastic, but this is something that each and everyone of us as women can do, can change.
