Why take a Food Intolerance Test?

More and more of us suffer from food intolerance, it does not matter which particular diet you follow, you could still suffer from a food intolerance which can cause us various symptoms which mean that we are not reaching our potential.

Symptoms of Food Intolerance

Often patients report multiple symptoms such as gut pain with headaches and skin rash. Common symptoms include:

Anxiety (acute or chronic)
Attention Deficit Disorder
Water retention
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Depression
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Itchy skin
Weight control problems
Hyperactivity Disorder
Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Symptoms of these types of food intolerance are often delayed for many hours or even days and for this reason it is often hard to identify the problem foods. The detection of food-specific IgG antibodies through the use of immunoassays can be helpful in the management of these patients through the design of elimination diets based on food IgG antibody results.

More About This Food Intolerance Test

Diets can include a rich mixture of foods from around the world. Some of these dishes will be rich in herbs and spices from countries such as India, Mexico, Indonesia and Thailand. It may not be immediately apparent that some of these ingredients may cause us to feel unwell. The Foods You Can  Herbs and Spices  food intolerance test has been designed specifically to look at these types of foods and flavourings.
If you have a food intolerance you start to react to the foods that you have an intolerance too causing some of the symptoms that were mentioned above. This will continue to happen and effect your day to day life, whether this may be at work or when you are out and about meaning you cannot relax when you enjoy your food.

What Happens When I Order My Test?

Once your order is placed for this test, the sample kit is mailed out to you so that you can get the process started as soon as possible. Our aim is to make the process quick and easy for you and so we provide a safe and secure free post return envelope for you to post your blood sample back to our lab.

How Your Sample Is Tested at The Lab
Once your finger prick blood sample is provided, the finger prick blood sample is diluted and dispensed onto printed microarrays. Food IgG antibodies, if present, bind to the food extracts. The bound food IgG antibodies are subsequently detected through the use of other immunoassay reagents which generate a blue colour in the presence of the food IgG antibodies. The density of this blue colour is measured using a high resolution scanner.
The results for this food intolerance test is generated, then they are calibrated against the standards using food intolerance reporting software to give quantitative results. This software then produces a tailor-made print out of the final food IgG antibody result for each food on the requested food panel.

Sample Requirements and Test Turnaround
A simple pin-prick blood sample is all that’s required. Results are available within 10 working days of sample receipt and are uploaded to your client/account area and sent to you via email or through the post.

The food intolerance test reports are prepared in a group format so that results from similar types of foods are listed together. The Foods You Can food intolerance test report presents the results of each food group together (e.g. herbs, spices)

Each food is classified under the the titles Avoid, Borderline or No Reaction column

What To Do Next
Foods under the Avoid column should be avoided for a period of 2-3 months after which time they can be re-introduced one by one. Intake of foods in the Borderline category should be moderated and eaten occasionally. If any symptoms return when a particular food is re-introduced, the food should again be removed from the diet.

It is important that for any food you take out of your diet, you swap it with a suitable alternatives so as not to lose out on essential nutrients for the body. We’re here to help for foods, advise and much more.
